Week 1 Recap

BMuz Game of the Week

Old Tappan J-E-T-S (1-0) defeated Chappaqua GOATs (0-1)

Led by Kareem Hunt’s 42.7 points, the J-E-T-S put up the best Week 1 performance of all-time with 175.1 points (dethroning Oak and his 168.3 points from 2010). Adding insult to injury, the GOATs lost the #1 FF player in the NFL, David Johnson, for a majority of the FF season. The reigning back-to-back champ now has his back against the wall. Meanwhile, the J-E-T-S would like to motion to have their team’s name changed to “The Kareem Team”…

Remaining Games

Bloomfield Cowboys (1-0) defeated Lowell Panthers (0-1)

One of the commissioner’s preseason favorites, the Cowboys, started the year with a great performance led by their potent RB duo of Zeke and Dalvin. Qman should continue to have strong weeks as long as Zeke remains on the field. Meanwhile, the Panthers, hamstrung by a Jay Ajayi’s Week 1 bye, had an uninspiring performance to start the year.

Chicago 7-6ers (1-0) defeated New England Salt & Peppers (0-1)

The 7-6ers starting lineup (and bench) came out strong and handily beat the worst team in BMuz, the Double Terriers. Ace’s team will get even better in the coming weeks as Mike Evans re-enters his lineup and his FLEX spots are strengthened by breakout players, Tarik Cohen and Kenny Golladay. For the Double Terriers, Week 5 can’t come soon enough. Until then I advise they continue with their FF tutoring sessions.

Franklin Raekwons (1-0) defeated Malden Cavaliers (0-1)

In the “Battle of the Autodrafts,” the Raekwons came out on the top. Ebad, if you’re reading this, please set your lineup for this week.

Boston OakTrees (1-0) defeated Mubarakstan UoMs (0-1)

Oak exorcised the demons and finally beat Aasim (and, as a bonus, Oak left Week 1 with Melvin Gordon in one piece despite several outside attempts to “nazr” him). With Jarvis Landry and Desean Jackson ready to return next week and James Whites having solidified a role in the Patriots offense, Oak seems set to have another strong FF campaign. Meanwhile, Aasim’s luck from last year seems to not have carried over to this season.

Waco White Walkers (1-0) defeated Chelmsford Charawalas (0-1)

In the first ever “Sheikh What Your Mama Gave You Bowl,” Lesser Sheikh defeated Elder Sheikh by a convincing margin. The architect behind the Charawala’s 8-5 season last year put up 123.4 points led by…the Rams D/ST. With more showings like this, Mani will challenge for the Eli (North) division title.

Lexington Mughals (1-0) defeated Dublin #McNuggets (0-1)

The Mughals opened the season with a win over the handicapped #McNuggets. Despite <20 points total from their four FLEX positions, the Mughals start the season 1-0 as they hope to get back into the playoffs for the first time since 2014. On the other side, things will only get better for the #McNuggets as they’ll have Jameis Winston and Devante Parker back for the remainder of the season. As for the Abdullah/Perkins bust watch…it ain’t looking good for Ayman.

Pepperell Patriots (1-0) defeated Boston Baingans (0-1)

Despite having one of the worst keepers in BMuz history put up 0.5 points and his Gronk putting up a paltry 3.9 points, Haroon got a convincing win to start the season. Usmani wasn’t so lucky as he got minimal output from his stud (6 pts), his top draft choice (3.5 pts), and lost his 2nd round keeper for the season. Will the Baingans be able to thwart a third consecutive losing season?
